Please join us, ten years after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, for a special one-day symposium hosted by the University of Brighton. Aiming to develop a timely and pertinent exploration of the potential futures of crisis, the day will look to shift narratives of finance and society away from the crisis of 2008 and towards a better understanding of the present and future financial innovations that pose new challenges to social life.
Focusing on the themes of money, debt and innovation, the day will explore the continual and evolving impact finance has on society today, addressing theoretical, methodological and empirical challenges of living in an increasingly financialised society.
Offering a mixture of invited speakers and emerging academic voices, the symposium will foster an informed and interactive space to raise questions, explore ideas and develop new debates relating to the broader relationship between finance and society.
Tea, coffee and lunch, provided by Compass Point Eatery, will be provided for all attendees.
For any queries please contact Alex Simpson (A.T.Simposn@Brighton.ac.uk).
